Biofuels - Overview

Canola (crude rapeseed) oil (CRSO), Soy (crude soybean) oil (CSO), non-refined and refined, and Corn typically are the major raw materials required for ethanol biofuel, biodiesel formulation. As a popular and viable alternative to energy, ethanol dedicated acreage is increasing as processors look to this relatively emerging industry. It too, has an important role to play in the agricultural dynamics. As choices are made in favor of additional ethanol purpose crops, it is a direct take away from the crop it replaces. A measured balance is required for sustainability and new resource, and Canada is at the forefront of this exciting process.
