											    By  definition:  Any  natural or processed liquid for human consumption which provides the human body  with nutritional elements via oral ingestion and does not contain more than 0.5  percent ethyl alcohol by volume. 
											       
The  non-alcoholic beverage category has been subdivided into non-alcoholic  beverages and alternative beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages refer to coffee,  tea, dairy, carbonated beverages, bottled waters and juices. There are a  variety of trends occurring in the non-alcoholic beverage category. Products  such as coffee and teas are gaining in popularity, an assortment of cold  beverages are continuing to grow, and a variety of new product introductions  are encouraging companies to try new ideas. 
 
Alternative  beverages consist of soy beverages, sports drinks, energy drinks, enhanced or  functional beverages and new products including vegetable beverages, flavored  milks and drinkable yogurts.
